Here is just a sample of the programs we are working on.

Life Writes Harrisburg

Partnering with the Central Dauphin School District, the Life Writes Project has developed a summer school credit-recovery class for eighth grade students.  This is a high-quality summer learning program for middle school students. Life Writes Harrisburg launched in 2013 focusing on eighth grade learners. In 2015 our program will expand to include 7th grade students too.  Every summer Life Writes Harrisburg hosts a community exhibition of art and writing featuring the work of both the students enrolled in the summer program and the work of our community partners.

Life Writes Colombia

In October 2014 the Life Writes Project sent a team of teachers and administrators to Medellin, Colombia in order to establish a professional and cultural exchange with Colombian teachers.  The team presented a full-day literacy workshop for elementary and secondary teachers.  Through partnerships that were forged during our initial trip to Colombia we are now planning future large-scale and small-scale programs to support teachers and students in Medellin.

Books abound

During the summer 2014 Life Writes Project class students volunteered to participate in a service-learning opportunity at Country Meadows Retirement Community near Hershey, PA.  Life Writes Harrisburg students enjoyed writing, reading, drawing, and painting with residents from Country Meadows. Their combined work was featured at the 2014 Life Writes Exhibition in Harrisburg, PA.
