The Second annual Life Writes Exhibition was held on July 16, 2014 at the Friendship Community Center in Harrisburg, PA. Once again a large coalition of community leaders came together to celebrate the art and writing of eighth grade students in a public exhibition.
During a compulsory, credit-recovery summer school program, students engaged in a variety of reading, writing, viewing and discussion activities in order to ultimately develop a triptych narrative project--three personal narratives that depict a triumph, a tragedy, and a tribute story. Students also developed a collage that thematically illustrated their narrative projects.
This year's exhibition also featured the writing and artwork from residents at Country Meadows in Hershey, PA and an exhibit of community service projects completed by students in a community nature preserve.
